Chapter Eight

Boneless and happy and scared all at once, Jane snuggled close to Dom. What had she done? And what disaster would come from this?

Except it didn’t feel like a disaster. She felt amazing. And settled. And better than she had in a very long time.

“Don’t start thinking yet,” Dom said, his arm tight around her, his eyes closed. He’d rolled onto his back, but he’d kept her firmly pressed against his side.

She grinned because he couldn’t see her. “Why not?”

“Cause I can’t think enough yet to argue with you.”

She chuckled. “Fine. I’ll try not to think. Given that’s the first sex I’ve had in more than eight years, I’m too tired to think anyway.”

“More than eight years, huh?”

“I gave up men when I moved to Eirene.”

“How did you go that long without an orgasm?”

She raised her brows. “I didn’t. I know how to pump my own gas.”

He cracked his eyes open to look at her. And she almost laughed at his expression.

“I’m not sure whether to be turned on at the thought, or appalled that you went all that time ‘pumping your own gas’ when I would have been overjoyed to help.”

“You did. Who do you think I was fantasizing about?”

He groaned. “That doesn’t make me feel better.”

Grinning, she gave him a brief kiss. “Tell you what, you can help in person now. For a little while anyway.”

“Deal. Except for that ‘a little while’ part.”

“Meaning?”

“Meaning I want more than just a little while. But I’ll take what I can get now.”

“What you got was pretty damned good.”

“Absolutely.” He closed his eyes again and hugged her close. “I knew it would be. Which is why I want more.”

She hesitated because she wasn’t supposed to be thinking and because she didn’t want to break the mood. It had been a very long time since she’d been this content in bed with a man. But still, it was only fair to be honest with him.

“I’m not sure how much more I can give, Dom.”

“I’m patient. The past six years have proven that already.”

He grumbled that last, and she chuckled.

“I can wait for you to trust me,” he said. “But I intend to give you lots of orgasms in the meantime.”

“Well, that I can take.”

“Good. Now sleep. That’ll put off all this thinking business for a few more hours. And you’ve had a busy night.”

“Damn straight. Glad your brother made me take the day off.”

“Me, too. Sleep.”

“You staying until I wake up?”

“So long as you don’t mind. Ben will know if I do. Are you okay with that?”

She considered how she felt about Ben knowing she’d spent the night with Dom. She’d been so meticulous over the years, keeping her love life and Ben separate. All of that went out the window with Dom. But then, Ben was the one who’d told them to kiss and get married.

“He is eighteen now,” she said aloud. Then, “Jesus, my baby is eighteen. When the hell did that happen? Where did the time go?”

Dom hugged her a little tighter.
